At FIT we define membership as a foundation of community residents that have come together in solidarity with the vision to bring about civil and social change to shift the imbalance of power within the community.
We understand that residents in our community are facing an intersection of oppressions and therefore experiencing many challenges, one being time. As a result we have structured our membership to be inclusive and recognize the privilege and barrier of time.
We have developed three types of membership:
1) Supporter - an individual who attends FIT meetings for a minimum of 2 times a month and the AGM
2) Active Supporter - those who attend meetings and events monthly, are active on committees, and are encouraged to participate in leadership development trainings and other benefits from the organization;
3) Friend (Core) Members - Those who serve on the Advisory Board or other forms of institutional decision-making, has voting privilege at AGM’s, and become eligible to be board members. This pool of membership would also be from which our staff are hired.
